What Does a School Counselor Do?​

  • Consults with Teachers and Parents

  • Assists in the Student Success Team

  • Counsels Individuals and Groups by Referral

  • Implements Classroom Guidance Curriculum

  • Guides students through the Dvelopment of Educational and Career Plans

  • Follows the Professional Ethical Standards for School Counselors

  • Coordinates with School and Community Personnel to bring together resources for students

  • Prepares students for transition from Elementary to Intermediate and Intermediate to High School

School counselors are available for support of students, teachers, staff, parents and other members of the community in promoting the educational, career, personal, and social development of students. Our guidance and counseling curriculum is available for review upon request.

CCISD counselors follow the TEA 4-Component Model of a Comprehensive, Developmental Guidance and Counseling Program.  

 

  • Guidance Curriculum - Guidance lessons on a variety of topics

  • Responsive Services - Individual counseling sessions; parent consultations regarding individual student needs; coordination with outside referral source

  • Individual Planning - Academic and career guidance; parent and student consultation regarding planning and goal-setting; interpretation and analysis of assessment instruments
